Here in New England, we are provided with a remarkable diversity of plants ranging from rare wildflowers to common roadside weeds. The ability to identify members of the local flora allows us to interact and connect with the landscape more deeply. If you wish to forage for wild food and medicines, manage garden weeds more holistically, or gain a better understanding of local ecosystems, plant identification is a fundamental skill.
Join Jack Lamont, horticultural scientist, grower and lover of all things botanical, for a tour of local plant life and introduction to plant identification. On this plant walk, students will learn to spot a variety of edible and medicinal plants as well as the fundamentals of how to identify unknown plants on their own.
Sunday, Sept 26th, 11:30-2:30, at Stonewall Farm. Students should come dressed prepared for a light hike. $30
