Apple Hill String Quartet

Once again, the internationally acclaimed, Nelson-based Apple Hill String Quartet brings an eclectic line-up of music to Nova Arts. Inspired by their tour to the West Coast this winter, the Quartet highlights two composers from that region of the US. Iranian-American composer, Kian Ravaei, draws on childhood memories from Tehran and the suburbs of LA in his moving Family Photos; California native Dana Lyn bases The Ceremony That Never Was on fantastical paintings of animals by Wiyot artist, Rick Bartow.  Apple Hill exists to perform, teach, and broaden the appreciation of chamber music— cultivating connection and understanding among people of diverse backgrounds, cultures, playing levels, and ages through music performance and education centered around the values of acceptance, inclusivity, creative expression, and encouragement.
