Build a Shaker-style Bench

This course teaches the basics of woodworking through the construction of a Shaker-style bench using 5 boards. Students will have the opportunity to learn about local wood, plan reading, board selection according to grain, cutting to length, joining and furniture assembly. Specific tool use includes block planes, Japanese hand saw, Jigsaw, chisels and more. Each student will be leaving with their own 5-board bench. No experience required, this course provides a great project for teens interested in woodworking
