20junAll Day22Jumanji 30th Anniversary Celebration

Event Details

We plan to kick off the festivities with a screening of the 1995 film starring Robin Williams at The Colonial Theatre on Friday evening. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. A special artifact will be revealed in the lobby before the screening. Admission is free; pre-registration for seats is recommended. Special guests include the location manager for the film, Dow Griffith, Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient for Location Managers, as well as prop master, Dan Sissons, who created the Jumanji game for the film. Saturday will find road race participants donning inflatable animal costumes as they make their way up Main Street to Central Square—think stampede. A Jumanji-themed parade will follow. Visitors can take part in a scavenger hunt throughout downtown Keene. The Monadnock Humane Society will be present with dogs and cats for petting and possible adoption. Small Pond Productions’ troupe will be downtown in character costumes. Vendor booths will be along Church Street and Railroad Square. Sunday includes the closing ceremony with a mural dedication, remarks by Mayor Kahn and representatives from Monadnock Family Services and Keene PD, as well as a local drum corps. In addition to celebrating the filming of Jumanji in Keene 30 years ago, we are drawing attention to the importance of mental health awareness and available resources.
