Are you ready for some Country?!
Join NHPBS in Keene, NH for a day chock full of Country music activities to help celebrate the release of Ken Burns’s new series Country Music and commemorate NHPBS’ 60th anniversary! We are partnering with organizations in Keene to bring you a day of family-friendly fun and an evening full of music and merriment.
Country Music in Keene Activities:
EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW SCREENING at 7:30 p.m.
Grab a seat at the Colonial Theatre and be one of the first to preview Ken Burns’s new series, Country Music, followed by a Q & A with the film producers – Ken Burns, Dayton Duncan, and Julie Dunfey. Get tickets!
Main Event tickets are $20 for the screening and Q&A
VIP tickets are $60 and include a special pre-screening reception at the Colonial Theatre where you will get the chance to meet Ken Burns while enjoying some delicious local fare with some country flare.
Cheshire Children’s Museum, 10:00am-5:00 pm: Make your own guitar out of recycled materials and play your own Country tunes. Admission is $7.00 ages 12 months and up; $5.00 for 60 and over. Monadnock Food Co-op, 12:00pm-2:00 pm: Enjoy a delicious BBQ lunch provided by the Co-op for $10 a plate (plus tax). MENU (Subject to change): Entrees (Pick one) – BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich – Sunset BBQ Chicken Drumsticks – Southwest Garden Vegetable Burgers Sides (Pick two) – Local Corn on the Cob – Ranchero Baked Beans – Vegan Vinaigrette Coleslaw * All plates served with Housemade Corn Bread MoCo Arts, 3:00 pm: Attend a country music performance by the students from MoCo’s 2019 summer camp. Ticket Price TBD. Colonial Theatre, 4:00pm-5:00 pm: “Behind the Scenes at Florentine Films: A look at the filmmaking process with the crew behind Country Music”. The production, editing, and post-production teams from Country Music will be on hand for a panel discussion to describe their process and to answer your questions. Free to the public. Keene State College | Thorne Sagendorph Art Gallery, August 14-December 6: Photography exhibit – “This Is Country: Photographs From Country Music, A Ken Burns Film”. View and bid on some of the amazing photography used in the Country Music series. Free to the public. Don’t miss this one of a kind event!
