Event Details

The Historical Society of Cheshire County invites the public to a special screening of a documentary chronicling the history of the Kingsbury Machine Tool Company on February 18, 2026, at 6:00 PM (Eastern Time). The free event offers a unique opportunity to explore the legacy of this iconic local company through rare interviews and archival materials. Some years ago, David Kingsbury Frechette became concerned that the history of the Kingsbury Machine Tool Company would get lost. Frechette’s great-grandfather, Harry T. Kingsbury founded the company and it was run by his grandfather, Edward James Kingsbury and, later, his father, Henry Manley Frechette. A number of video interviews were taken with former employees of the company. Time went by and at a family meeting it was decided to turn the interviews into a short film about Kingsbury’s move from toy manufacturing into a machine tool company in the mid-20th century. The film was produced by David’s brother Peter Frechette and then shared with the Historical Society of Cheshire County. This event is generously sponsored by the Kingsbury Fund, Putnam Foundation, and Fenton Family Dealership as a part of the Historical Society of Cheshire County’s current exhibition, Revolution, Reaction & Reform, on view at the Society’s headquarters at 246 Main Street, Keene.
