Students will be working with epoxy resin to create a series of projects using different methods: projects will include a casting project created through layering, and learn to create an Ocean Board.
These small but challenging projects give students the same experience in working with this notoriously finicky product, but in a scalable format that allows for troubleshooting and multiple pours. Students will be taught how to make their own leak-proof mold, in addition will be working with a silicone molds. Other class elements include reviewing various forms of casting resin, how to pour and work in layers, mixing correctly and avoiding over-stirring, adding color and effects like wood, stones, glass, moss & other natural elements, creating a clear finish, dealing with air bubbles, and finishing techniques.
The intentional pace of this course, three 2-hour classes spread across 3 evenings, makes the most of working with this very slow curing resin. Cost of this course includes all tools and materials, however students are strongly encouraged to bring a variety of design elements to include in their project.
