And now for something completely different. In its second show of the 2025 season, The Edge Ensemble Theatre Company dares to offer six short stories, adapted for the stage by Scott Aronowitz. Audiences are invited to enter a twilight zone of mystery, the supernatural, the other-worldly. Directed by Kim Dupuis, these pieces meld literature and theatre to produce a new perspective on human possibilities.
AFTERLIFE by Stephen King delves into that most intriguing subject of what happens after death, exploring alternate dimensions and the possibility of spiritual encounters. Peter Eisenstadter and Mark DiPietro personify the protagonists in this eternal quest.
MISSED CONNECTION by Raphael Bob-Waksberg offers a, perhaps extreme, cautionary tale of failing to act on one’s instincts at a critical, and opportune, moment. This poignant, funny, and tragic story features Taryn Fisher and Melanie Plenda-Washer as the missed connectors.
WHAT A THOUGHT by Shirley Jackson illustrates, rather shockingly, what can go wrong in a successful marriage when a wife entertains the perverse pleasure of a wicked notion concerning her perfect husband. Cynthia Rodier and Mark DiPietro star.
THE PRESENT by Simon Rich attempts to answer the question of how much one will sacrifice for love. In this humorous and moving story, a time travel scientist searches for the perfect gift for his one true love. Scott Aronowitz and Taryn Fisher portray the lovers.
THE CHASER by John Collier gives us a young man who has fallen truly, deeply and madly in love and seeks a short cut to his heart’s desire. This spin on a simple fairy tale also uncovers a deep truth about the human condition. Damien Licata and Danny Robbins are the two star-crossed manipulators.
PRE-SIMULATION CONSULTATION XF007A867 by Kim Fu explores what technology can and cannot do when it comes to human desires. Humor and philosophy combine in this story of a woman who wants just one simple thing that apparently proves elusive for her ingenious virtual reality operator. Scott Aronowitz and Melanie Plenda-Washer are the technology mavens.
