Event Details

Chief Paul “Gwilawato” Bunnell, who represents a Ko’asek band of the Abenaki, will touch on Native American history in this region and the Connecticut River Valley, and then focus on a dream to build a conservation and nature preserve for tribal members and the public. Recently, a local family and tribal members have come together to transfer the stewardship and ownership of 10 acres of undeveloped land in Claremont back to the Abenaki. Now the work begins to make that home a place for all. Coffee reception and registration check-in begins at 9 a.m. Presentations, including announcement of this year’s conservation awards, begin at 9:30 a.m. Free and open to the public. On-street parking can be found around downtown Peterborough.
