Shirt Tails to Tote Bag: Upcycle Sewing

Ready for some recycling fun? If you got new shirts for Christmas and you’ve cleaned the old ones out of the closet, why not put them to a new, good use? A plaid flannel shirt that has seen better days can be turned into an ever so stylish tote bag! We will learn how make a lining pattern, do some simple quilting and leave with a handy tote bag.

Participants should bring a large old shirt, fabric scissors, straight pins, lighter weight cotton lining material. If you have a portable sewing machine you are comfortable using, feel free to bring that as well, however sewing machines will be provided. Students will be creating their own unique pattern according to their shirt.

This course includes two Thursday evening classes, March 31 & April 14 6:30-8:30 pm. Sewing machines will be provided for student use.

No prior sewing experience necessary.
